Charice has always been an amazing performer. But her transition from being a singer/performer to acting is one heck of a challenge for her. I have seen her acting when she appeared in Philippine shows and they weren't commendable at all. So when it was announced that she'll be appearing on glee, as much as fans were greatly excited, hungry critics were also waiting just to smash her.
Fortunately though, since here first appearance on Glee Season 2 to the finale, her acting has obviously improved much. There is more detail to her emotions and they appropriate to her lines. Her fluency in English has improved as well.
It is noticeable though that many critics have given too much emphasis on her weight. There are varied opinions on it but for people who are used to how the camera works, it's obvious that Charice didn't gain weight. It only appeared so because of her hairstyle, her dress, and camera angle among others.
This negative focus on weight has potential unhealthy effects. It is because of criticisms like these that many teenage Hollywood stars have ended up in unfortunate states of anorexic and bulimic disorders.
Charice's weight is not a deal. Of course, this is not to say that she shouldn't be watching it. But it is important to note that these critics have an over-sensitive eye on the non-essential. What they should be focusing on is the grandeur of her performance.
Charice belted out her sing called "As Long As You're There" as she was backed up by Vocal Adrenaline. Every detail was perfect. The lyrics are noteworthy and the song arrangement was spectacular. What is more impressive is that the song was able to display all of Charice's range. The performance was exceedingly impressive.
Charice has also released recently a few other singles, namely: "One Day", "Before It Explodes", "Louder", and "Lost The Best Thing". All these are spectacular - better even compared to the songs in her first album. All Charice's fans are expecting great reviews on her new singles and perhaps more recognition for this awesome artist. She indeed deserves it.
